Renewal joy for 'Emily in Paris'
Smash series wins sixth-season green light

Emily Cooper will not be leaving France any time soon, as streaming hit 'Emily in Paris' has been renewed for a sixth season, confirming that the sharply dressed, romance-laden adventures will continue into 2026. Series creator Darren Star said plans were already being shaped for the new season, although Paris would remain the show's anchor. He noted that while fresh locations could appear, the storyline would continue to orbit around Emily's Parisian life.
The renewal follows the strong performance of Season 5, which saw Emily (Lily Collins) travel to Rome for both business and pleasure as she helped launch an Agence Grateau office while juggling tensions in her work and love life.
Viewers responded enthusiastically. The season drew 26.8 million views worldwide in 11 days and topped television charts in 24 countries, including France, Italy, Brazil and Germany, while also ranking in the Top 10 in 91 territories, Netflix said.
Star's success with the series has even been recognised officially in France, where Darren Star was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, reflecting the cultural footprint the show has carved out since its launch.
'Emily in Paris' explores themes of American-French cultural clashes, focusing on an American marketing exec's culture shock in Paris, highlighting differences in work-life balance, romance, communication, and fashion. Season 5 ended with Emily turning down an offer to join Italian fashion heir Marcello Muratori's family business after his triumphant Venice fashion debut, deciding instead to keep her career rooted in Paris.
At the same time, Emily's best friend Mindy accepted a proposal from Nicolas de Léon, even as Alfie openly warned her she might be making a mistake, setting up further emotional complications for the next season. The closing scenes also showed Emily's former partner Gabriel inviting her to join him on a yacht holiday in Greece, hinting that unresolved feelings may yet shape what unfolds when the show returns.
However, the news of renewal of Season 6 has sparked a debate among the fans of Gabriel (Lucas Barvo) and Marcello, who are looking forward to seeing whom Emily ends up with.
Team Gabriel fans reacted to the announcement saying, "Less Marcello and only Gabriel, thank you in advance." Marcello fans believe that he is mature enough than Gabriel and think that the attractive chef already got his chance and he blew it.
