Ray J hospitalised in Las Vegas after heart pains and severe pneumonia diagnosis
He reportedly remained under medical care as of Thursday afternoon, while doctors examined his heart function

Singer and actor Ray J was reportedly hospitalised in Las Vegas on Wednesday, 6 January, after experiencing what were described as “heart pains”, according to sources close to the artist.
The 44-year-old was admitted to hospital and is said to be dealing with a “severe” case of pneumonia. He reportedly remained under medical care as of Thursday afternoon, where doctors carried out X-rays and an echocardiogram, an ultrasound test used to examine heart function. No further information regarding the results of those tests has been disclosed.
This marks Ray J’s second serious bout of pneumonia in just over four years. In late 2021, he was also hospitalised after initially being suspected of having COVID-19 before doctors confirmed pneumonia. At the time, he described the experience as life-threatening, telling TMZ, “I thought it was over. I started praying and knew God is good so I just kept praying.” During that hospital stay, he required oxygen support and struggled to speak before eventually recovering and being discharged.
Despite his current condition, Ray J remained active on social media. He posted an announcement on Instagram promoting an upcoming event in Austin, Texas, scheduled for 18 January, writing, “1/18/26 ……. AUSTIN TX …. IT’s #STRIPPERBOWL SEASON ….. MY BDAY WEEKEND GOING UP…,” without referencing his reported illness.
Fans responded to the post with messages of concern and encouragement.
The hospitalisation comes amid recent legal challenges for the singer. In late November, Ray J was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, with multiple firearms reportedly found at his home.
While the Los Angeles County District Attorney declined to pursue felony charges, he is facing six misdemeanor offences filed by the Los Angeles City Attorney, including brandishing a firearm and child endangerment.
Ray J has not issued a public statement addressing his health condition.
