SUKKUR:

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Tuesday announced that a mega operation against dacoits will be launched from Ghotki as part of intensified efforts to restore law and order in the Sukkur and Larkana ranges.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the home minister to review the overall security situation. The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, DIG Sukkur Nasir Aftab, and concerned district SSPs. Police officials briefed the meeting on ongoing operations, progress made so far, and achievements against criminal elements.

According to the briefing, police contingents remain fully active in both riverine (Katcha) and settled (Pakka) areas, with dacoit hideouts being dismantled and facilitators targeted. Modern technology, including drone surveillance and intelligence-based operations, is being used to track criminals, while sustained police presence in Katcha areas is helping curb crime.

The home minister praised the professional performance of the police and directed authorities to adopt a coordinated strategy to eliminate crime completely. He stressed a zero-tolerance policy against those challenging the writ of the state, saying no one was above the law.

Lanjar instructed officials to immediately submit recommendations for logistical support, including drones, weapons, ammunition, and vehicles, assuring swift approval. He said he would personally monitor the operation and also directed coordination with Punjab Police for joint action.

Later, speaking to the media, Lanjar said criminals would be dealt with without discrimination, adding that dacoits had been given a final chance to surrender or face decisive state action. He reiterated that operations would continue until lasting peace was ensured across Sindh.
