ISLAMABAD:

Tibhar Table Tennis Academy clinched the team title at the Quaid-e-Azam Table Tennis Tournament held at the NUML University Gymnasium, as players from across Pakistan competed in team and singles events over three days.

The tournament was organised to mark the opening of the Tibhar Table Tennis Academy, established on December 1 by former Pakistan national player Rafique Sarhadi, with the aim of promoting table tennis through professional coaching and modern training facilities.

Sixteen teams from cities including Faisalabad, Multan, Abbottabad, Wah Cantt, Rawalpindi and Islamabad took part in the team competition, while 96 players contested the men’s singles event and 16 competed in the women’s singles category.

Assistant Commissioner Yasir Aziz inaugurated the tournament, urging players to compete with enthusiasm while upholding discipline and sportsmanship.

In the team final, Tibhar Table Tennis Academy defeated Faisalabad Falcons Academy to lift the title after a closely fought contest, with Danish Tanveer securing a decisive win against Mohsin Raza.

Taha Bilal of Champions Club Lahore won the men’s singles title, beating Shayan of Tibhar Table Tennis Academy 3–0 in the final, while Haeeqa Hassan claimed the women’s singles crown after defeating her teammate Janita Javed.

Former Pakistan international Naeem Khan, along with former national champions Naila Pirzada and Raheela Kashif, attended the finals and distributed prizes, praising the competitive standard of the matches.
