Amazon Prime Video has officially unveiled key cast members for its upcoming Tomb Raider TV series, a live-action adaptation of the iconic video game franchise that will star Sophie Turner as the legendary adventurer Lara Croft.

The newly announced ensemble brings together veteran actors and rising talents in roles both familiar and entirely new, expanding the world fans have explored in games for decades.

Leading the additions is Sigourney Weaver, who will play Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious and influential figure "keen to exploit Lara's talents," and Jason Isaacs, cast as Atlas DeMornay, the uncle of Lara — a character rooted in game lore.

Also joining the cast are Bill Paterson as the loyal Croft family butler Winston, and Martin Bobb-Semple in the role of Zip, Lara's trusted tech support and friend.

The ensemble expands further with Jack Bannon as Gerry, Lara's personal pilot and enthusiastic companion; John Heffernan as David, a weary government official drawn into Lara's world; Celia Imrie as Francine, the champagne-loving head of advancement at the British Museum; Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, a senior official tasked with handling a major crisis; Sasha Luss as Sasha, a fierce rival to Lara; and Juliette Motamed as Georgia, a by-the-book museum curator committed to proper preservation. August Wittgenstein rounds out the cast as Lukas, an illegal raider with a shared past with Croft.

Sophie Turner, known for her breakout role on Game of Thrones, has spoken about her excitement for the role, saying, "I've been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She's a fierce female role model!" Turner's passion for the character and Amazon's global platform suggest the series aims to resonate with both longtime fans and new audiences.

The adaptation is being led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), who serves as creator, writer and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge, with direction and executive production from Jonathan Van Tulleken.

Waller-Bridge shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying, "Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix."

Although production details and a release date have not yet been confirmed, filming is expected to begin soon, as the series builds anticipation among fans of the long-running franchise.
