The Batman Part II is continuing to take shape as new casting announcements signal renewed momentum for Matt Reeves’ long-awaited DC sequel.
According to recent reports, Sebastian Stan has joined the cast of The Batman Part II, marking another high-profile addition to the expanding ensemble led by Robert Pattinson.
The sequel has faced a lengthy development process since The Batman debuted in 2022, with delays and uncertainty surrounding its production timeline. In recent weeks, however, the project has gained traction. Key behind-the-scenes creatives have been confirmed, and early casting developments have begun to clarify the direction of the film.
Stan’s involvement comes shortly after confirmation that Zoë Kravitz will not return as Selina Kyle. In her place, Scarlett Johansson—another actor closely associated with Marvel Studios—has reportedly been cast in a major role. Stan and Johansson previously worked together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making their reunion in a DC project a notable crossover moment.
While details about Stan’s role remain under wraps, his casting has sparked speculation about which character he may portray in Reeves’ grounded Batman universe. At the same time, the announcement has prompted questions about how the role could affect Stan’s future involvement with Marvel projects, particularly amid ongoing franchise crossovers and long-term studio planning.
Reeves’ Batman series exists separately from DC’s main cinematic universe, allowing the filmmaker greater creative freedom in casting and storytelling. The addition of established franchise stars suggests the sequel is aiming to expand its scope while maintaining the grounded tone that defined the first film.
The Batman Part II is currently scheduled for theatrical release on October 1, 2027. Production is expected to begin in the spring, with further casting and story details anticipated in the coming months.
