Ashley Tisdale has revealed that she chose to walk away from an allegedly toxic mom group after feeling repeatedly excluded and isolated following the birth of her daughter.

The actor and singer shared her experience in a personal essay written for The Cut, explaining that after welcoming her daughter in 2021 she sought out a group of mothers she could bond with, learn from and lean on during early parenthood.

The group allegedly included several high-profile figures, including Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor and Mandy Moore as evidenced by images from 2022 showing Tisdale alongside a group of celebrity mothers on social media

Reflecting on the early days, Tisdale wrote, “What I remember most from those early days was how impressed I was by those women and all of the amazing things they had going on. They were building brands, running their own companies, launching creative projects. They just happened to also be mothers of young kids.” She added that she believed she had found a sense of belonging, saying, “I was certain that I’d found my village.”

Over time, however, Tisdale said the dynamic shifted. She described being excluded from group gatherings that were later posted about on Instagram, being seated far away from others at a dinner party, and not being invited to a birthday dinner organised for another member of the group. She also noted that another mother had been frozen out shortly before she joined, before eventually finding herself in the same position.

Tisdale said she raised her concerns directly, describing the behaviour as feeling “high school”. While one person sent flowers in response, she said she was later ignored when she expressed thanks and never received an explanation for her treatment. She said she was left to assume that she simply was not considered “cool” enough.

Tisdale adde that leaving the group was ultimately necessary for her own wellbeing.
