Teaching Hospital MS, principal removed over serious lapses

Patients complain of delay in provision of medicines

The Punjab Chief Minister's Inspection Team has removed the medical superintendent (MS) and principal of the Gujranwala Teaching Hospital over serious administrative lapses noticed during a surprise visit.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Shoaib Mirza sent a special inspection team to the hospital to assess the situation and review the service.

During the visit, the inspection team examined various departments of the hospital and interacted with patients and their attendants for feedback.

Several patients and attendants complained about mismanagement, particularly delays and irregularities in the provision of medicines.

Following the findings of the inspection team and the complaints received from patients, the newly appointed MS and principal were removed from their posts for failing to ensure proper administrative control and patient care.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated that negligence, mismanagement and compromise on public healthcare services will not be tolerated, and strict action will continue against officials found lacking in performance.

According to officials, the chief minister has activated the CM's Inspection Teams across the province to ensure effective monitoring of public sector institutions for improving service delivery and strengthening governance

The officials said the chief minister had introduced a new governance model under which inspection teams were actively operating in the field. The teams are regularly submitting reports to her, while a digital dashboard is functioning for real-time monitoring.
