116 lives lost to suicide in Lahore in 2025
Month-wise data highlights persistent mental health challenges in provincial capital

The Edhi Foundation Lahore has released its annual report on suicide cases, revealing that incidents of suicide continued throughout the provincial capital in 2025, with a total of 116 people taking their own lives during the year.
According to the report, the victims included 83 men and 33 women.
Edhi officials stated that domestic disputes, financial stress and personal problems were among the most commonly cited factors behind these incidents. A month-wise analysis of the data shows that January recorded 12 suicide cases, including nine men and three women.
In February, 11 cases were reported, involving seven men and four women, while March saw six incidents, with four men and two women losing their lives.
April recorded 12 suicide cases, including eight men and four women.
The highest number of incidents was reported in May, when 17 people, 13 men and four women, died by suicide.
In June, eight cases were documented, involving three men and five women.
During July, 11 suicide cases were reported, including seven men and four women.
August again recorded 12 incidents, with nine men and three women.
In September, six cases were reported, involving five men and one woman.
October saw eight suicide cases, including seven men and one woman, while November recorded seven cases, with six men and one woman among the victims.
In December, seven suicides were reported, involving five men and two women.
An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said the figures pointed to a persistent social challenge that requires coordinated attention.
The spokesperson noted that many of the cases were linked to unresolved domestic conflicts, economic pressures and personal difficulties.
