Following snowfall in the Kaghan Valley and surrounding areas, the weather has turned spectacular, with temperatures dropping below freezing at several locations. Large numbers of tourists have flocked to Shogran and Kaghan, drawn by the valley’s now even more captivating scenery.
After two days of rain in Balakot and heavy snowfall in the upper regions, the entire area has been gripped by intense cold. According to local sources, Naran has recorded up to two feet of snow, while Shogran has received around one foot. Intermittent snowfall continues in Kaghan town and the surrounding mountains, further enhancing the valley’s natural beauty.
Families and young visitors from Islamabad, Lahore, and other cities are enjoying the breathtaking winter scenes. Tourists describe the snow-covered mountains and views of Shogran as “like a fairytale.”
The administration has deployed heavy machinery to clear snow from Shogran and other key roads. Tourists have been advised to install snow chains on vehicle tyres to prevent skidding and to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to upper areas at night.
While the cold spell has intensified the winter chill, it has also boosted business for local hotels and jeep operators. Markets in Balakot and Kaghan have seen a noticeable rush at stalls selling hot food and soup.
