Murders down by 28% in Vehari; claim police

The Vehari police official statistics depicted a decline in incidents of dacoity by 36%, robbery by 31%, house-breaking by 9%, theft by 6% and murder by 28% during 2025.
The report showed that 66 murder cases were recorded this year compared to 79 last year.
Similarly, 24 dacoity cases were reported in 2025, down from 36 in 2024.
Robbery cases declined from 1,313 last year to 904 this year, while house-breaking cases dropped from 665 to 595.
Police also registered eight cases of highway robbery with murder and 10 cases of extortion during the year.
In a major recovery drive, the police traced and completed investigations in 3,971 property-related crime cases, recovering stolen goods worth over Rs259.36 million.
The recovered items included vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, livestock and gold jewellery, all of which were returned to rightful owners after due legal process.
During 2025, Vehari police arrested 2,370 proclaimed offenders, including 529 Category-A and 1,841 Category-B criminals. In anti-narcotics operations, 1,898 cases were registered, leading to the recovery of 611kg hashish, 133kg heroin, 109kg opium, 27kg ice, 181kg poppy and bhang, 39,000 litres of liquor, 8,842 litres of fermented liquor, and 129 active distillation units.
Crackdowns on illegal weapons resulted in 1,121 cases, with seizures including Kalashnikovs, guns, rifles, pistols, revolvers, carbines and a large quantity of ammunition. The police conducted 37 encounters during the year, in which 19 hardened criminals were killed, 24 injured and 57 arrested.
Eleven blind murder cases were also traced. Additionally, 153 organised gangs were busted, with 380 members arrested and stolen property worth over Rs151.06 million recovered.
In courts, the police secured convictions for 3,602 accused in cases involving narcotics, murder, attempted murder, rape, theft, robbery, house-breaking, cattle theft and illegal arms.
Public facilitation centres provided services to 268,000 citizens, while the Mithaq Centre resolved 3,014 issues related to the Christian community.
Protection centres and the Virtual Women Police Station addressed thousands of complaints from women, transgender persons and other vulnerable groups.
In the traffic sector, 1,869 students completed courses at the driving training school, and nearly 219,000 driving licences were issued.
During the year, 55 police officers were promoted to various ranks and 22,753 commendation certificates were awarded.
