Film on war’s effect on kids moves audience

Arts Council hosts Japanese movie screening

The Alhamra Film Club at the Lahore Arts Council screened an acclaimed Japanese film, Grave of the Fireflies, a cinematic masterpiece reflecting the devastating realities of war through the eyes of children. Directed by Isao Takahata and based on a story by Akiyuki Nosaka, the film left an emotional impact on the audience.

The film sensitively portrays themes of human suffering, compassion, resilience and the universal longing for peace. It highlights the emotional and psychological toll of war on vulnerable lives, making it a timeless reminder of humanity’s shared responsibility toward empathy and coexistence.

Alhamra Arts Council Chairman Razi Ahmed stated that the club continues to present national and international films that carry strong messages and artistic depth. 

Executive Director Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said Alhamra centre had hosted record film screenings in 2025.
