MITHI:

Chief Justice of Pakistan and Chairman of the Law and Justice Commission, Yahya Afridi, paid a two-day visit to Tharparkar district, accompanied by Sindh High Court Chief Justice Zafar Rajput.

The purpose of the visit was to ensure equal access to justice, institutional attention, and constitutional protection for all citizens regardless of religion, geography, or economic status.

During his stop at the Civil Court Complex in Nagarparkar, the Chief Justice reviewed judicial proceedings and stressed that public facilities must remain functional to uphold the dignity of justice delivery.

He praised initiatives such as women's facilitation centers, provision of clean drinking water, solarisation, and e-libraries, noting their importance despite climate pressures and resource constraints.

Afridi also chaired a consultative meeting with representatives of the High Court Bar Association Mirpurkhas, and bar associations of Mithi, Umerkot, and Nagarparkar. Tharparkar Bar Association demanded a permanent halt to the cutting of Karoonjhar Hills and called for its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The Chief Justice visited the historic Kasbo Temple and Churio Dargah Mata Temple, reaffirming the judiciary's constitutional role in safeguarding religious freedom, cultural heritage, and interfaith harmony - symbols of Pakistan's multicultural society and minority rights.

At the District Court Complex in Mithi, Afridi inspected judicial performance, case management, infrastructure, and women-friendly facilities.
