The sub-branch of the Pakistan-China Business Forum (PCBF) was recently inaugurated in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, marking a step forward in efforts to deepen economic and trade cooperation between China and Pakistan within the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.
Located in one of China's most dynamic economic hubs, the new branch will focus on strengthening trade, investment and broader economic cooperation. Its core functions include connecting enterprises from both countries and promoting sectoral collaboration, particularly in information technology, textiles, e-commerce and manufacturing.
The office will also serve as a support base for Pakistani companies seeking entry into the YRD market. It aims to develop a comprehensive enterprise service platform to provide businesses with market information, policy advisory services and commercial matchmaking support.
In addition to economic engagement, the PCBF Hangzhou sub-branch will promote cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation, CEN reported.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai, who highlighted the role of the new branch in strengthening bilateral cooperation. He said Hangzhou, as a key central city in the YRD, has strong innovation capacity and a well-developed e-commerce ecosystem, offering significant cooperation potential with Pakistan.
He noted that opportunities exist in areas such as the digital economy, electronic products and electric vehicle manufacturing. He added that cloud storage and logistics could play an important role in facilitating cross-border sales.
