Electronic Arts is set to shut down online services for three games in January, including a title developed by BioWare. The closures will leave the affected games either partially or fully unplayable once servers are switched off.

The first shutdown is scheduled for January 12, when EA will turn off the servers for Anthem. The multiplayer action role-playing game was released in 2019 by BioWare, the studio known for Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Anthem’s development ended in 2021, and the game was delisted on August 15 2025, though servers remained active until now.

Two further EA titles will follow later in the month. The Sims Mobile is set to shut down on January 24. Developed by Maxis, the game launched in 2018 as a mobile adaptation of The Sims 4. EA delisted the title on October 21 2025, while continuing to support its online functionality.

The final shutdown will take place on January 30 and affects NBA Live 19. Released in 2018 by EA Tiburon, the game is the most recent entry in the NBA Live series, following EA's pause in further development. NBA Live 19 was delisted at the end of October, alongside The Sims Mobile.

EA has not publicly provided reasons for the delistings or the upcoming server closures. The company has not issued official explanations, though all three games rely on online servers that require ongoing maintenance. NBA Live 19 also involves licensing agreements, which typically have fixed terms.

The January shutdowns follow two other EA game closures that took place earlier in December, including one title from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation and another released more than a decade ago.
