RAWALPINDI:

A man allegedly shot dead his daughter and a young man who had come to meet her in the area of Takiya Baba Rahim Shah in Gujar Khan tehsil of Rawalpindi.

The accused's wife was also critically injured in the firing.

After the incident, the accused surrendered himself to the police, who arrested him and launched an investigation.

According to police, the accused, identified as Nadeem Sarwar, is a carpenter by profession and lived in the same area with his family. His 22-year-old daughter, Shanail Zahra, was employed at a private medical complex in the area, and talks regarding her marriage elsewhere were reportedly underway.

On Wednesday morning, Nadeem allegedly saw his daughter with 22-year-old Rehmanullah, who worked as a ward boy at the same medical complex. In a fit of rage, he opened fire, critically injuring both Shanail Zahra and Rehmanullah, who died on the spot.

During the firing, the accused's wife sustained four bullet wounds while attempting to intervene and save them. She was rushed to hospital, where her condition was reported to be critical.

Police said evidence suggested that Rehmanullah resisted the attack in an attempt to save himself and the girl, during which bullets fired by the accused also struck his own wife.

Upon receiving information, ASP Gujar Khan Daniyal Kazmi and SHO Gujar Khan Tayyab Zaheer Baig reached the scene, collected evidence, shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination and ensured medical treatment for the injured woman.
