Statements recorded in student's death case

LAHORE:

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showing a student jumping from the third floor of a university building in Lahore has surfaced.

The deceased, Muhammad Owais, was enrolled in the private institution.

The footage circulating on social media shows the young man leaping from the building.

Family members have alleged that Owais was under severe mental stress due to pressure from teachers.

Speaking to reporters, the victim's brother, Muhammad Sohaib Sultan, alleged that teachers had warned Owais that he would not be allowed to appear in the examinations because of low attendance.

"My brother repeatedly requested his teachers to allow him to appear in the exams, saying that missing them would result in the loss of his entire semester," Sohaib said, adding that the pressure had affected his mental health.
