MQM-P urges Bilawal to empower local govts
.

MQM-P Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Sindh Assembly Taha Ahmed on Friday urged PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to fulfill the party's 2008 manifesto commitment on local government, calling on him to treat it as the "last wish" of his late mother, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Speaking to the media at the provincial assembly, Taha said Bilawal should honour the vision of Benazir by implementing the pledges he made during his speech in the National Assembly. He demanded that Bilawal instruct the provincial leadership to immediately form a committee for the implementation of Article 140-A of the Constitution, which ensures the devolution of power to local governments.
MPA Taha pointed out that the party had been raising the issues of the public in the assemblies for the past four decades. He stressed that Article 140-A, which guarantees the transfer of powers to local governments, was the key to solving the public's problems.
