Petroleum levy collections to surge to Rs2.2 trillion by FY2030
The federal government has projected petroleum levy collections of Rs1,468 billion for the current fiscal year 2025-26, with annual receipts expected to climb sharply to Rs2,212 billion within the next four years, according to estimates cited in an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report.
Details show that out of the Rs1,468 billion projected for the ongoing fiscal year, the government has already collected more than Rs650 billion in the first five and a half months.
The IMF's estimates indicate a steady upward trajectory in petroleum levy revenues as part of Pakistan's broader fiscal consolidation framework.
For the next fiscal year, the petroleum levy collection target has been set at Rs1,638 billion.
The estimates further project revenues of Rs1,787 billion in the fiscal year 2027-28, followed by Rs1,989 billion in FY2028-29.
By FY2029-30, annual petroleum levy collections are expected to reach Rs2,212 billion.
