ISLAMABAD:

The district administration on Wednesday sealed two well-known marts in I-8 Markaz after discovering that sugar, fruits and vegetables were being sold at rates exceeding official prices and that DC counters lacked essential items.

The action was taken by the Assistant Commissioner of the Industrial Area during an inspection conducted on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, who has ordered continued enforcement without discrimination.

Officials stated that inspection teams visited several outlets to check compliance with government-notified prices and the availability of goods at DC counters.

Two marts were found charging above fixed rates, while fruits and vegetables were unavailable at the DC counters, prompting immediate sealing under relevant regulations.

The operation aimed to ensure that consumers receive essential commodities at officially approved prices. Authorities reviewed price lists, examined stock levels and verified displayed rates.
