RAWALPINDI:

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCIA), Islamabad, has arrested a couple involved in producing objectionable videos of a woman, harassing her and her family, and spreading the content on social media.

According to officials, the suspects, identified as Muhammad Shakeel and his wife Shaheena Bibi, recorded explicit videos of the victim and used them to blackmail and harass her and her family. The couple later circulated the videos publicly on social media.

The case came to light following a complaint by the victim. An inquiry (No. 1094/25) revealed the suspects' actions, leading authorities to register a case under Sections 20 and 21 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Both suspects were subsequently arrested.

Investigations also confirmed that the mobile number used to commit the crime was registered in the name of the female suspect. The couple employed fake identities to share the objectionable material on social media and sent it through various channels to the victim's family, causing severe mental distress.

Officials stated that further investigation is ongoing. They also emphasised that strict legal action will continue against individuals who harm women's honour, dignity, and privacy, and such offenders will be brought to justice.
