Man gets death penalty for daughters' murder
.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ejaz Soofi sentenced a father, Usman Anwar, to death twice after convicting him of murdering his two minor daughters in a high-profile domestic dispute case registered at RA Bazaar Police Station.
The court ruled that the convict committed an extremely serious crime by killing his daughters, stating that the sanctity of paternal affection was shattered and that he did not deserve any leniency. The judge ordered that the convict be hanged till death.
The convict had brutally slaughtered his 13-year-old daughter Anosh and 5-year-old daughter Laiba with a sharp-edged knife following a dispute with his wife, whom he also severely injured during the attack. The case was registered on July 15, 2024. After the incident, the accused was apprehended at the scene by his brother-in-law.
The court also ordered the convict to pay Rs0.5 million in compensation for each murdered daughter.
Additionally, he was sentenced to ten years in prison and fined Rs0.5 million for attempted murder. The court observed that a father is meant to be a shield for his daughters, and the brutal killing of innocent children is a heinous crime.
Following sentencing, the convict was shifted to Adiala Jail. Nauman Farooq, maternal uncle of the deceased girls, stated in the FIR that his younger sister Ayesha Bibi was married to Usman Anwar.
The court acquitted the accused's siblings, giving them the benefit of doubt.
