Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley and Sam Claflin join Johnny Depp in 'Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol'
Paramount has scheduled the film for release on November 13, 2026

Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, Sam Claflin and Charlie Murphy are among the latest names to join the cast of Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, Paramount’s new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic starring Johnny Depp.
The film is directed by Ti West and features Depp in the title role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Andrea Riseborough, Ian McKellen and Tramell Tillman are also part of the ensemble.
The screenplay was written by Nathaniel Halpern, with Emma Watts producing. Paramount has scheduled the film for release on November 13, 2026.
Also joining the cast are Arthur Conti and Ellie Bamber, rounding out a line-up that brings together performers from film, television and theatre. While specific character details have not been officially confirmed, sources indicate that Grint is expected to portray Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s loyal employee. Roles for the other newly announced cast members have not yet been revealed.
Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol revisits Dickens’ familiar story of a miserly businessman who is confronted by the ghost of his former partner and three spirits representing Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. The new version is described as a ghost story set in Dickensian London, focusing on one man’s supernatural journey as he confronts his life choices and seeks redemption.
The project marks the second major film adaptation of A Christmas Carol announced this year. Warner Bros. is also developing a separate interpretation of the novella, with Robert Eggers attached to direct and Willem Dafoe reportedly set to play Scrooge.
Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman serve as executive producers alongside Adam Bohling and David Reid. With production continuing to take shape, the film adds to a long tradition of screen adaptations while assembling a cast that blends established names with rising talent.
Further casting announcements and story details are expected as the project moves closer to production.
