KARACHI:

The Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST) leadership on Wednesday demanded the release of its detained workers and compensation for alleged losses, warning that relentless action against party members was unjustified and discriminatory.

The demand was made at a meeting held at the Qadri House in Nazimabad. PST Chairman Engineer Muhammad Sarwat Ijaz Qadri chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, the leaders said that the PST and its workers had made immense sacrifices for the creation and stability of Pakistan and would continue to do so. The mission of Ahl-e-Sunnat is to promote love, peace and harmony, they said, adding that the continued detention of innocent PST workers was unacceptable. The leaders demanded their immediate release and called for compensation for the damages and losses suffered by the party and its workers.

The PST leaders said the army chief, the chief justice of Pakistan, the Sindh government and the governor were fully aware that the PST was a patriotic organisation and would always remain loyal to the country. They questioned why action was taken against PST workers while, they claimed, slogans against Pakistan were raised and separatist propaganda was openly carried out on Sharae Faisal and other areas without consequence.
