MUZAFFARGARH:

The deputy commissioner of Muzaffargarh said on Tuesday that effective emergency response and post-flood rehabilitation in the district had been made possible through close coordination of the administration with international and national non-governmental organisations during and after this year's devastating floods.

Presiding over a meeting with representatives of United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) and NGOs, the DC said the role played by the asector in supporting flood-affected communities was highly commendable.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various international and local organisations, including the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), UNICEF, CARE, FDO, Islamic Relief, FAO and Doaba.

During the meeting, participants held a detailed review of ongoing and completed rehabilitation initiatives for flood victims in different parts of Muzaffargarh district.

The discussion focused on relief distribution, restoration of livelihoods and strengthening coordination mechanisms to ensure maximum outreach to affected populations.
