ISLAMABAD:

In an unprecedented celebration of friendship and shared heritage, Pakistan and Tajikistan are set to host their first joint cultural festival at Lok Virsa on 19-20 December. This landmark initiative marks a defining moment in cultural diplomacy between the two countries, highlighting their rich traditions, artistic excellence and culinary heritage.

The Pak-Tajik Cultural Festival 2025 is being organised by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture. The recent visit of the Tajikistan Ambassador to Lok Virsa to finalise arrangements reflects the depth of cooperation and the growing strength of cultural ties between the two nations.

Over two days, Lok Virsa will be transformed into a vibrant centre of cultural exchange. From noon to 8.00pm, visitors will experience live artisan demonstrations, traditional music, dance and theatre performances, as well as authentic Pakistani and Tajik cuisine. Handicraft exhibitions will display traditional artworks and handmade products, while cultural seminars will explore the shared heritage of both countries.

Special features include film screenings on 19 December from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon, followed by a Farsi language seminar on 20 December at the same time. Renowned Tajik artists Noziya Karomatullo and Muhammadrafi Karomatullo will headline the event, promising memorable performances. Conceived as a family-friendly celebration, the festival symbolises friendship, mutual respect and the unifying power of culture, paving the way for future collaboration.
