Door-to-door insulin supply begins in Pindi
Registration of diabetes patients kicks off across district

The registration of diabetes patients has begun in Rawalpindi district under the Punjab Chief Minister's door-to-door insulin supply programme, and insulin delivery to the homes of 35 registered Type-1 diabetes patients has already started.
According to the District Health Authority, a public awareness campaign on diabetes explained that Type-1 diabetes is a chronic disease in which the body completely stops producing insulin. Insulin is an essential hormone that helps transfer sugar from the blood to the body's cells to generate energy.
Without insulin, blood sugar levels can rise to dangerously high levels, which can be life-threatening.
District Health Officer (Preventive) Dr Hafiz Muhammad Jawad said that blood sugar in Type-2 diabetes patients can be controlled through dietary precautions, exercise, medication and, in some cases, insulin.
He clarified that not every Type-2 diabetes patient requires insulin.
The DHO added that health department teams are carrying out patient identification, verification, registration and insulin delivery in accordance with the prescribed procedure. He said complete monitoring of the cold chain and proper record-keeping are being ensured during insulin distribution.
