Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner reportedly had an uncomfortable interaction with their son, Nick Reiner, at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday, December 13, just one day before the couple was found dead in their Los Angeles home.

A source told Us Weekly that Nick, 32, acted “creepily” during the gathering before leaving.

According to TMZ, Rob and Nick were involved in a “very loud argument” during the event, which was overheard by other attendees. The next day, Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were discovered dead from apparent stab wounds. Authorities have arrested Nick Reiner and set bail at $4 million while investigating the murders.

Rob and Michele Reiner, who married in 1989, shared three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy. Rob also adopted Tracy, the daughter of his first wife, Penny Marshall. Before their deaths, the couple had spoken publicly about Nick’s struggles with drug addiction, which had caused tension in the family. Nick began using drugs as a teenager, entering rehab at age 15, and later experienced periods of homelessness across several states.

In interviews, Nick reflected on his experiences, saying they shaped who he is today. Rob and Michele also shared regrets about their handling of Nick’s struggles. Rob told the Los Angeles Times in 2016 that he wished he had trusted his own instincts rather than outside advice regarding Nick’s care. Michele added that they had been influenced by others who questioned Nick’s honesty.

Nick Reiner’s behavior at the party adds to the ongoing investigation into the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner, highlighting the complex family dynamics leading up to the incident.
