One killed, three injured in four alleged encounters

Police operations against criminals have intensified across Gujranwala district, resulting in four separate alleged encounters in different areas in which one suspect was killed and three others were arrested in an injured condition.
According to police, City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Ghyas Gul Khan had directed officers to step up action against criminals involved in robbery, drug peddling, street crime and other offences. Acting on these directives, a team led by SP City Shahid Rasheed and SHO Garjakh Aijaz Rafiq conducted a raid to arrest a notorious drug dealer and robber. During the operation, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party.
A police spokesperson said that during the ensuing exchange of fire, a proclaimed offender, Arham alias Munna, was killed by shots fired by his own accomplices.
He was a history sheeter allegedly involved in 37 cases of drug peddling, motorcycle theft and street robbery. His accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Police shifted the body to hospital for post-mortem and initiated further legal proceedings.
In another incident, SHO Imtiaz Shaheen led a raid in the Saddar Kamoki area to arrest record-holder Ghulam Moheyuddin. The suspect allegedly fired at the police party and was injured by shots from his own accomplices during retaliatory firing. He was arrested in injured condition and is reportedly involved in 30 cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery and street crime.
