Tanker owners, driver booked in teen's fatal crash

A case has been registered against the unidentified driver of a speeding water tanker and its owners after a first-year student was killed in North Karachi on Wednesday morning.
According to police, 17-year-old Abid Raees, a resident of Surjani Town, was riding his motorcycle to college when a fast-moving water tanker struck him in Sector 5-A/2, killing him on the spot. The FIR, lodged at Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Police Station on the complaint of the victim's father, Raees Ahmed, includes charges of murder and negligent driving.
The case names the unknown driver as well as owners Saeedullah and Abdullah. Residents told police the tanker was being driven by an underage driver. Following the accident, the driver fled, while enraged locals set the water tanker on fire before authorities arrived.
