Doctors save woman's eye, brain in rare surgery
.

Doctors at Nishtar Hospital performed a highly delicate neurosurgical operation, saving both the brain and eyesight of a woman injured in a traffic accident on Thursday. The extraordinary case was handled in Ward 14 of Nishtar Hospital, where a team of neurosurgeons carried out a complex surgery to remove a metal screw that had entered the patient's orbital cavity and penetrated toward her brain.
The patient, Salma, a resident of Khan Garh, was rushed to Nishtar Hospital after a traffic accident in which a sharp screw became lodged near her left eye and travelled dangerously close to her brain.
The neurosurgery team, led by Associate Professor Dr Liaqat Ali Jalal, along with Senior Registrar Dr Ahmad Shah and other specialists, worked for two hours to carefully extract the screw without causing further damage.
The removal not only saved the patient's life but also preserved her vision and protected her brain from potential long-term harm.
Senior Registrar Dr Syed Muhammad Ahmad, Resident Surgeon Dr Kashif and Dr Ahmad Farooq were also part of the surgical team.
