A Judicial Magistrate (South) has acquitted gang war leader Uzair Jan Baloch in a case pertaining to allegedly procuring large quantities of arms and ammunition from Balochistan, citing insufficient evidence.
The South district court, sitting at the Karachi Central Jail Judicial Complex, announced the verdict in the years-old case involving the alleged transfer of heavy weaponry. According to the judgment, the prosecution failed to establish charges against Uzair Baloch.
Defence counsel Advocate Haider Farooq Jatoi argued that the allegations against his client were baseless and unsupported by any credible evidence, urging the court to clear Uzair Baloch of the charges.
According to the prosecution, police had arrested an accused, Shamsuddin, on 7 May 2012, during which a significant quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered.
