One-marla dispute claims life in Khanewal

KHANEWAL:

A woman was shot dead by her nephew over a one-marla land dispute in the suburban area of Mouza Adhiwala.

People present inside the mosque premises overpowered the suspect along with the murder weapon and handed him over to police.

Police said Qari Bilal, the imam of the central mosque in Adhiwala, was leading Maghrib prayers when his nephew, Waris Ali, a resident of Shujaabad, arrived at the mosque on a motorcycle with his mother.

Waris went straight to the residential quarters located above the mosque, where Bilal's wife, Sahira, was present.

As soon as he entered the home, Waris allegedly opened fire on his aunt.

She sustained three bullets to the neck and chest and died on the spot.

Her body was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Kabirwala, for post-mortem examination.
