Schools' security audit under way

Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order's Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that a school safety campaign has been launched in the province.
A security audit of educational institutions across the province is also being conducted, he said while presiding over a meeting.
The school education department has been directed to implement SOPs including boundary walls, training of guards and provision of technical equipment in the educational institutions.
The minister said installation of panic buttons in educational institutions should be ensured, adding that providing a peaceful educational environment to students in educational institutions is the top aim of the government.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said mapping of all educational institutions in Punjab had been done. All possible steps are being taken to implement security SOPs in the institutions.
He said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had issued instructions to all educational institutions regarding security audit, emergency contact numbers and appointment of focal persons.
