RAWALPINDI:

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday that 9 terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

It said an IBO was conducted in Tank on the reported presence of terrorists. "During the conduct of [the] operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, seven khawarij were sent to hell," the statement read.

In a separate IBO conducted in Lakki Marwat, "two more khawarij were effectively neutralised by security forces".

"Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji found in the area," the statement said.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday lauded the security forces for successful operations against the India-backed Fitna-al-Khwarij in Tank and Lakki Marwat districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The president appreciated the timely and effective action of the security forces that resulted in the killing of Khwarij, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.

Paying homage to the sacrifices of the Shuhada and the Ghazis, he reiterated that the resolve of the nation and the security forces would remain firm till complete elimination of this menace.

The president praised the morale of the forces for foiling the nefarious designs of the Fitna-al-Khwarij operating under Indian patronage.

The prime minister commended the security forces for eliminating 9 terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khwarij in these operations.

Under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, the security forces were achieving major successes in the fight against terrorism, he added.

"The entire nation stands with Pakistan's armed forces in this war against terrorism," PM Office Media Wing, in a press release, quoted the prime minister as saying.

He also expressed the resolve to completely eradicating all forms of terrorism from the country.
