Lawyers beat up police outside SHC, video goes viral
A group of lawyers has recently physically assaulted policemen, including an inspector, by punching and kicking them outside the Sindh High Court (SHC). The shocking incident, captured on video, has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.
According to police sources, a Thatta police team had arrived outside the SHC to arrest wanted suspects. Relatives of the suspects allegedly tipped off the lawyers, who were handling the case, about the police presence. Upon learning that the officers were there to arrest the absconding suspects, the lawyers reportedly became enraged.
The lawyers not only barred the police from entering the court premises but also subjected them to physical attacks, dragging the inspector along during the assault. Despite the confrontation, the police stayed put. Following the cancellation of the suspects' bail applications, the officers arrested the suspects outside the court and took them into custody.
Police officials confirmed that footage of the incident has been secured and an investigation is underway. "Legal action will be taken against all those involved, in accordance with the law," a senior police officer said.
