A man allegedly murdered his wife and severely injured his daughter during a domestic dispute at their home near Noorani Mosque in Upper Gizri, Clifton on Friday night. Their 12-year-old daughter succumbed to her injuries before reaching Jinnah Hospital.
Police identified the victims as 45-year-old Kulsoom and her daughter Maryam. Clifton SHO Imran Saad, upon receiving the report, reached the scene with police personnel, arrested the suspect, Samiullah, and recovered the murder weapon, a knife. Samiullah has been taken into custody for further investigation.
According to the FIR registered under Section 302 on the complaint of Faisal Khan, brother of the deceased, the attack occurred around 9:30pm on Friday. Faisal told police that he learned of the attack while at his home in Gulshan Nabeel and rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where he was informed of Maryam's death due to severe bleeding.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the double murder stemmed from a domestic conflict. Police are continuing investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
