An elderly woman was allegedly held hostage by a domestic servant and two accomplices at her residence in the upscale DHA neighbourhood before the suspects fled with valuables worth millions of rupees, police said on Saturday.
A case has been registered. Police said the victim's granddaughter reported that on December 4, at 10:40pm, she and her father had stepped out, leaving the elderly woman alone at home. The housemaid, Bilal, entered the residence with two unidentified men in DHA Phase V. Armed with knives and firearms, the suspects allegedly forced the elderly woman to hand over two gold bracelets weighing 233 grams each, along with five rings. The trio then broke open a wardrobe and looted 10 gold sets, a diamond set, several necklaces, rings, bangles, cultural ornaments, three high-end watches, two gold biscuits, and Rs400,000 in cash.
The suspects fled on a bike routinely used for household errands.
