LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court has been approached to challenge the ordinance issued to allow kite-flying in Punjab.

The petition was filed by advocate Azhar Siddique, Chairman of the Judicial Activism Panel an NGO.

According to the petitioner, the ordinance related to kite-flying was issued on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif and is in conflict with the Constitution.

The petition argues that granting permission for Basant poses a serious threat to human life, as past festivals have resulted in multiple fatalities. The petitioner has requested the court to suspend implementation of the ordinance until legislation is passed by the provincial assembly.
