VEHARI:

In two major operations, the Crime Control Department (CCD) Vehari killed two long-wanted drug traffickers during separate armed encounters near Chak WB-12 and Khanpur Canal, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Police said a CCD team was conducting a raid near Chak WB-12 to arrest wanted criminals when three unidentified armed men on a motorcycle approached from the Pakpattan Link Canal.

When police signalled them to stop, the suspects opened fire with the clear intent to kill. Police retaliated in self-defence.

Following the exchange of fire, a search operation was launched, during which one injured suspect was found lying in critical condition.

He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Sajjad, son of Muhammad Hussain, a resident of EB-307 Burewala.

Police recovered a 30-bore pistol and ammunition from his possession.
