CCD claims killing four drug peddlers
At least four suspected drug peddlers were killed in two encounters with the police.
The encounters occurred in the areas of Nathatabad and Millat Town.
According to the police, Crime Control Department (CCD) teams carried out a raid in Ghulam Muhammad Abad, where they faced firing by the suspects.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, two suspects, Ghulam Shabbir and Ahsan alias Comando, were killed.
In the other encounter, CCD officials at a checkpoint in Millat Town were fired upon by four men on two motorcycles. In a crossfire, two of the suspects, Shahzad and Sikandar, were killed.
The police said they had seized arms, ammunition, narcotics and motorcycles from the possession of the deceased suspects.
A manhunt was launched for the accomplices of the killed suspects.
Meanwhile, three police officials were suspended and a case registered against them for their alleged negligence due to which three detained suspects escaped from the Achhira post.
According to the FIR lodged by SHO Mohsin Ali, the three accused, Nadeem, Atif Hussain, and Asif, had been arrested in connection with a case registered under Section 381A of the Pakistan Penal Code and were being held at Achhira Chowki. However, they escaped due to the negligence of the police employees on duty.
