MANSEHRA:

The Department of Archaeology at Hazara University Mansehra recently hosted a special guest lecture titled "From Vajirasthana/Barikot to Jayapalanagara/Zalamkot", delivered by renowned archaeologist Professor Luca Maria Olivieri of the Italian Archaeological Mission in Pakistan (ISMEO) and Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy.

Faculty members, students, and research scholars attended the session with keen interest, gaining insights into recent archaeological discoveries, historical interpretations, and the cultural significance of major sites in the Swat Valley.

Following the lecture, a productive meeting was held under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities with Vice Chancellor Professor Ikramullah Khan. Discussions focused on the newly launched "Khyber PATH (Profession for Climate Adaptation, Eco-Tourism, and Heritage)" project.

It was agreed that four departments of Hazara University-Archaeology, Arts & Design, Architecture, and Tourism & Hospitality — will participate as co-partners in the initiative. A formal agreement will soon be signed to ensure active involvement of students, scholars, and faculty members.

The Vice Chancellor thanked Professor Olivieri for his valuable contribution and for enriching the academic exposure of the university's students and researchers. A commemorative shield was presented to the distinguished guest as a token of appreciation.
