LODHRAN:

Courts across Lodhran district have handed down death sentences, life imprisonment, and heavy fines to several murder convicts in four separate cases, following what police officials described as "effective investigation" and "strong legal follow-up" in serious crime cases.

An Additional Sessions Judge in Kehror Pakka sentenced two convicts, Khurshid Ahmed and Muhammad Shahid, to death along with Rs 2 million fine each, after finding them guilty of killing 25-year-old Sajjad alias Ranjha.

The convicts brutally assaulted Sajjad on June 11, 2024, resulting in his death. Dhanoot Police had registered the case on the complaint of the victim's father.

District Police Officer (DPO) Ali bin Tariq said the judgement reflected the police's commitment to ensuring justice.

"Securing convictions in heinous offences remains our top priority," he stated.

In another major decision, Additional District and Sessions Judge Dunyapur, Syed Ehsan Mehboob Bukhari, awarded the death penalty and a Rs1 million fine to convict Muhammad Hussain in a 2025 double-murder case.

According to the prosecution, Hussain forcibly entered the complainant's house on August 24, 2025, and stabbed two women—Nazeeran Bibi and Atta Elahi—to death over a domestic dispute.

Saddar Dunyapur Police registered the FIR under sections 302, 324, and 449 on the complaint of Abdul Sattar and completed the investigation before submitting the challan.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Lodhran, Hafiz Abdul Hameed, awarded life imprisonment and a Rs500,000 fine to Hasnain Chandia for the murder of Wajihur Rehman.

The incident occurred in 2024 when the convict shot the victim dead after taking offence to a monetary dispute. City Kehror Pakka Police registered the case on the complaint of the victim's brother and arrested the suspect shortly after.

The judge announced the verdict based on solid evidence and credible witness testimony, police said.

In a separate judgement, Additional District and Sessions Judge Lodhran, Muhammad Ayaz, sentenced Jam Mursaleen to life imprisonment and Rs 500,000 fine, while co-accused Kamran Hanif received five years imprisonment and a fine.

Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months in jail.

According to Gilewal Police, the convicts attacked the home of Zulfiqar Ali in September 2023, killing Muhammad Iqbal and injuring Muhammad Bilal. After completing the investigation, police presented a case leading to the convictions.
