LAHORE:

A Lahore sessions court has sought a police report on a petition filed by renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar, who has requested the registration of a criminal case against a suspect accused of submitting a forged surety bond.

The plea, filed through Advocate Muddasir Chaudhry, states that Hassan Shah, who recently secured bail in an NCCIA case, allegedly submitted fraudulent surety documents to the court.

The petition noted that despite a complaint being lodged at Islampura police station, no FIR has been registered so far.

Qamar urged the court to order police to register a case against Shah, who is also accused of recording and circulating an inappropriate video of the complainant.

The court adjourned the hearing until December 16.

In a separate development, the Lahore High Court issued notices to the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and other relevant departments on a petition seeking stronger measures to curb smog and action over the alleged felling of trees in Nasir Bagh.
