Joy full rally marks the start of Christmas season

KARACHI:

Just like across the country, the Christian community in Karachi kicked off Christmas preparations weeks ahead of the festival marking the birth of Jesus Christ.

On Sunday, a Welcome Christmas Rally rolled out from Christian Cemetery and wound its way through the city centre to concluded utside the Karachi Press Club.

The rally was a lively spectacle - men, women, youth, and children joined in large numbers, many dressed in Santa Claus-themed outfits. A special stage was mounted on a 22-wheeler trailer, where Christmas songs and carols filled the air, adding to the festive cheer.Adding to the colorful procession were decorated carriages, camels, and horses carrying delighted children who enjoyed the ride with laughter and excitement.

At the press club, the participants cut a Welcome Christmas cake, offered prayers for Pakistan's peace and security, and for the strength of the country's armed forces.

Sarfaraz William, Chairman of the Gawahi Mission Trust and social leader of the Christian community, led the rally. He reminded participants that Christmas is celebrated worldwide on December 25 to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, a festival that carries the message of peace, love, and harmony.

He emphasised that the rally was meant to welcome Christmas and to spread the spirit of unity. "Pakistan is our homeland, and all minorities enjoy full protection and religious freedom here. We stand with our army in safeguarding our beloved country. Let us spread the message of peace and brotherhood and play our role in national progress," he said.

William announced that another Christmas rally will be held in Islamabad on December 7. He added that people of all faiths join in these celebrations, and urged everyone to help the underprivileged during this season of giving. "Merry Christmas to all!" he concluded with festive cheer.
