PPP gears up for 'historic' 58th Foundation Day rally

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Peoples Party will celebrate its 58th Foundation Day today (Sunday) with a major rally at Shah Ahmed Noorani Eidgah, Korangi, announced PPP Karachi Division President Saeed Ghani, along with PPP Sindh General Secretary Senator Waqar Mehdi.

Speaking at a press conference, the leaders said the PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto established the party 58 years ago, opening Pakistan's political arena to the general public, workers, and middle- and lower-income classes, which had previously been dominated by feudal lords and elite circles.

"Shaheed Bhutto gave political awareness to the masses and minimised the influence of the establishment in politics," Ghani said. "PPP has historically faced electoral manipulation more than any other party, yet it remains a symbol of people's voice in Pakistan."

Ghani emphasised that the upcoming rally will be one of Karachi's largest, with participation from all 47 provincial constituencies, and party workers and office-bearers arriving in processions. "The event will start at 1pm, and the chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address participants via video link," he added.
