Seasonal ailments spike

The month-long spell of dry weather across the region has begun to take its toll on public health, with a marked increase in cases of respiratory infections, throat irritation, skin allergies and eye conditions reported in both urban and rural areas.

Dr Shahzad, a senior medical specialist and District Health Officer Abbottabad, said that the prolonged dry conditions and heightened dust levels in the atmosphere have severely affected individuals with weakened immunity, particularly children and older people.

"We are witnessing a sharp rise in cases of influenza, dry cough, throat irritation and allergic reactions due to the persistent dry spell," he observed.

Dr Shahzad further stressed that patients with chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma and bronchitis, are especially vulnerable during this period.
