'Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar' initiative launched

PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar initiative for the homeless on Wednesday by conducting the first digital ballot on the request of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
After the draw, the chief minister telephoned Attock resident Rukhsana Bibi to congratulate her on winning a free plot. She also congratulated Mero Mai from Mandi Yazman and her husband Ramesh Lal.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that the recipients would be eligible to obtain Rs1.5 million loan each to build their homes, which would be repayable over nine years in monthly installments of Rs14,000.
Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin said 2,000 applicants had secured residential plots in 23 housing schemes in 19 districts of Punjab – 730 in Jhelum, 388 in Kasur, 257 in Faisalabad, 219 in Lodhran, 130 in Okara, 55 in Layyah, 52 in Bhakkar, 33 in Sahiwal, 25 in Sargodha, 24 in Khushab, 20 in Bahawalnagar, 17 in Mandi Bahauddin, 15 in Rajanpur, 11 in Attock, eight in Gujrat, seven in Bahawalpur, four each in Jhang and Vehari and two in Chiniot.
