Outgoing CJCSC bids farewell to leadership

Outgoing Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Monday paid farewell calls on President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
General Mirza met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The president paid tribute to the officer’s professional abilities and appreciated his services for national defence. Zardari also extended his best wishes to the outgoing CJCSC.
The PM also praised General Mirza’s professional capabilities and his services to the country, said a brief statement issued to the media along with a picture.
After the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the largely ceremonial position of the CJCSC has been abolished and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has stepped down from the duties.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Saudi Chief of General Staff General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili also called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at the Joint Staff Headquarters.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security environment. They also explored concrete measures to deepen engagements between the Armed Forces of both countries and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen defence and security ties.
The outgoing CJCSC reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and ensuring the protection of Haramain al-Sharifain.
The visiting dignitary praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
