Domestic helper killed, another injured in road crash

KARACHI:

A woman was killed and another injured when a speeding car hit them outside Karachi University on Saturday. The accident occurred on University Road in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, within the jurisdiction of Mobina Town police station, according to police.

A recklessly-driven car hit two pedestrian women who were crossing the road, police said. As a result, one woman died on the spot while the other was seriously injured. Both were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by Chhipa volunteers.

PS Mobina Town's SHO identified the deceased woman as 40-year-old Shamshad Bibi, wife of Fayyaz, and the injured as 23-year-old Ruqayya, wife of Tariq. Police took the errant driver, Syed Mujahid Hussain, into custody for investigation. Police added that both women worked as domestic help and were residents of Scheme 33.

Dumper crushes biker to death

A speeding dumper claimed yet another life in the city after it ran over a motorcycle near Zakria Goth on the Super Highway. One man was killed on the spot while another sustained injuries.

According to Malir Police spokesperson, the collision occurred when the dumper hit the motorcycle, killing Shahid instantly and injuring Sohail.

Malir Cantt Police arrested the driver, identified as Fazal, and impounded the vehicle.

The body of the deceased and the injured man were shifted to a hospital by Chhipa volunteers. Police officials said further investigation into the incident is underway.
